THE TENTH CAMP ANNIVERSARY

Rotaract Club Novi Sad (RTC Novi Sad) was founded in February of 1996. The initial board at the time consisted of 7 people ready to follow Rotary idea. After a year and a half, club membership increased to 20 people and we were chartered in June of 1997. In the following years, RTC Novi Sad dealt with issues in local community such as helping children in S.O.S. Children's Village and supporting individuals in need. Nevertheless, the club wanted to expand its scope to the global level. In the 1990’s, Serbia had a bad reputation in the world due to the major political turmoil, protests, civil wars, and finally conflict in Kosovo that resulted in the bombing of Serbia in 1999.

RTC Novi Sad wanted to do something to change the image of Serbia, and show the world that Serbia is not only what people see in the media, but much more than that. In the fall of 1999, the idea of International Rotary Summer Camp was born. Sponsored by the Rotary Club Novi Sad, RTC Novi Sad organized the first summer camp called "Vojvodina", in 2000. The main goal was to share the culture, customs and history of this northern province of Serbia with other Rotaractors from all over the world. The first camp was a great success, and the message about nicer, different Serbia, was sent to the world. Our guests became the best promoters of Novi Sad, Vojvodina and Serbia in their own countries. In the following 9 years, we organized 8 more summer camps with different themes, from 2001 to 2009:

"Wines of Vojvodina”, "Danube", "As good as it tastes", "Chase your dream in Vojvodina",

"History through architecture", "Castles and Summer-Residences of Panonian Sea", "Handmade in Vojvodina", "Let's play in Vojvodina".

During this period, we hosted over 100 guests from Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Slovenia, Bosnia, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria) and the Middle East (Lebanon), with some of them participating more than once. Every time we received amazing feedback from our guests, and we had a lot of people visiting us based solely on recommendations made by Rotaractors that participated in our camps. We will continue with this wonderful tradition in the future as we plan to have our 10th International Rotary Summer Camp in 2010.

Rotaract Club Novi Sad was founded in February 1996. As a part of global effort to bring peace and international understanding in the world. This effort starts at a Community level, but it knows no limits.

Rotaract Club Novi Sad combines service with professional and social activities. However, our greatest strength is the friendship that we promote: friendship among Rotaractors, friendship with Rotarians, friendship with members of our Community as well as friendship with those who share Rotary ideals all over the world.
